Grant provided for veterans pursuing truck driving at CCFC


first_imgWILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Veterans Day is coming up this weekend and Cape Fear Community College is stepping up to help those who have served.The school received a grant to provide assistance to vets pursuing truck driving training.- Advertisement – The grant was provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.It will be used to cover fees and expenses above what is covered by veterans and active military educational benefits.Spouses and children will be eligible to apply for scholarships as well.Related Article: Where to get food and water in New Hanover County“By having this program available to active military, they’re going to be able to, hopefully their command will let them come down here and take part in the training and be able to have a set plan. I.E having credentials to be able to drive after they have exited the military,” Raymond Charfauros, veterans affairs coordinator, said.Currently seven of the truck driving training instructors at CFCC are veterans.The program does not have a set start date.last_img
